Hi, this is our activity page. This page is to give you an idea
of what different types of activities we do throughout the day. I offer daycare for infants and toddlers and educational programs and lessons for the preschoolers. We have supervised free play for the infants and toddlers and for preschoolers we have structured class time.
We do age appropriate curriculum and activities. Everyday we try to do something different, but we also do a lot of
repetition, because that's the way children learn. For the preschoolers we do arts & crafts and special projects at least twice a week. But we also do the basics,
such as learning our alphabet, working on our colors, shapes, and counting.
Some of the important things that we work on every day with all the children are the different stages of childhood development. Each child develops differently and at their
own pace. So, I try to adjust my activities to fit each and every childs stage of development. Some of the different types of development
that we work on are:
*Social and Emotional Development* We focus on activities that help
develop children's ability to interact with others and to identify and deal with emotions in a socially acceptable way. Some of these
activities include group or circle time, and music time.
*Small Muscle Development* We do activities that help develop children's ability to use their small muscles in their hands. Some of
these activities include art, working with scissors, crayons or markers, different shaped puzzles, table toys and cooking.
*Large Muscle Development* We focus on activities that help develop the larger muscles in the legs and arms. Some of these activities
include daily walks or outdoor play, music and movement, jumping games, plus a variety of outdoor climbing toys.
*Cognitive Development* We do activities that help develop children's
ability to think, including reasoning, classifying, sorting and
labeling. Some of these activities include group time, computer time,
table toys or games, collage making, shape sorting, or sorting objects by color, size, or texture.
*Language Development* We focus on activities that help develop children's ability to understand and communicate in either verbal or
written form. Some of these activities are reading, finger plays, dramatic play, rhymes, and story telling.

All of the above development is very important to children. This helps
them to get a good start in life. But there are times when all they
want to do is play. And even though some people think that children
aren't learning anything when they play, they really do. You would be
amazed at all the wonderful things that children can learn and teach
one another by just playing.
Fresh air is very important to a childs growth, so I try to take
the children outside daily (weather permitting). The kids love going for walks or just playing out in the yard on the outdoor equipment. There is also a park within walking distance that the children are able to enjoy. Getting outside helps the children build strong muscles and gets them
plenty of exercise during the day. It also helps them to burn off energy so that when they lay down for nap time, they sleep really well and awaken refreshed and ready to play and learn some more.
Rest is also very important for children, so we do have a nap/rest
time right after lunch. The older children have mats that they sleep on while the little ones get their own cribs. All the children who are 6 months old and above will sleep in the sleep room. Infants under 6 months old will sleep in the main daycare area
so that I can see them at all times. I have plenty of cots for the older children and plenty of porta cribs for the little ones.
Story time is also very important to the children. We have a certain time set aside where we read from a variety of books that are available. Children need to be read to because this expands their imagination and their vocabulary. Children also love to read books because it makes them feel so grown up.
And in my daycare, I always have plenty of books available for them to read. From the very basic soft books for toddlers to regular story books for the older children. A book can take a child to wonderous, new places, and it can help them to travel around the world without ever leaving their home.

I hope that this page has answered any questions that you may have about what the
children learn and what they do all day while Mom and Dad are at work.
I truely enjoy teaching and watching the children learn new things. If
you have any questions or comments about anything that you have read
here on this page, please E-mail me. *smile*
